Frade in Angra dos Reis is the most exclusive resort destination of the Southeast coast of Brazil.
The resort lies on a 17 million square meter estate, nestled in between the protected rain-forest and the South Atlantic Ocean. The amazing views over the many islands, gives you a unique paradise-like feeling. The Frade resort offers a yacht harbor, a new luxury hotel, newly constructed villas, plenty of leisure possibilities and an 18 holes Golf course. It is one of the first green and sustainable resort projects in Brazil.
The Frade Golf Course was designed by two British experts: Peter Allis, winner of the Brazil Open in 1961, and Dave Thomas. In 2007, the course was completely reconstructed under the supervision of Brazilian professional Rafael Navarro.
Totally new greens were added to 6 holes, while the other 12 were restored. The 11th hole, for instance, has got a new tee box which is now on the top of a 45 meter high hill that offers an amazing view of the course and the sea around Angra dos Reis. Another hole you cannot miss is the 8th, an uphill 148 yard par 3, since the player´s ball must carry the ruins of a 19th century aqueduct – it is extremely beautiful, but you must be careful otherwise your ball may get stymied behind one of the old pillars.
